RECYCLING BILLION MARKET – DAIMLER AG, MINEWORX TECHNOLOGIES, VOLKSWAGEN AG
Sustainability in industry is becoming more and more important. Not only because of legal regulations, but also because raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce and therefore more expensive. In addition, supply chains globally were massively disrupted by the lockdown measures, while geopolitical tensions are relentlessly exposing dependencies. As sustainability is becoming increasingly important to hedge fund managers and investors, companies that implement ESG-guidelines can be expected to experience increased demand for their share or bond issuances See Complete Report
BILLION DOLLAR MARKET FOR PLATINUM AND PALLADIUM
The Canadian company Mineworx Technologies (WKN: A3CMKV ISIN: CA6034652041 Ticker: YRS0) wants aims to further expand the circular economy in North America. The Company is improving the recovery of platinum and palladium from diesel automotive catalysts. The company’s pilot test plant is due to be commissioned at the end of August which will see the company then moving the plant to the final site at Davis Recycling in Tennessee in order to carry out the process optimization for catalyst recycling in practice. See Complete Report
The new recycling process from Mineworx Technologies will drastically increase the recovery rate of platinum and palladium from catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters from the current 30% to over 90% . The approach here is not the previously very complex and expensive melting down of the materials, but instead the feedstock is first shredded and finely ground. Using a chemical process, platinum and palladium can then be dissolved and extracted much more easily. The market in Canada stands at over 100 million catalysts and with palladium prices at an all time high, Mineworx should enjoy high margins over the foreseeable future.
ESG WITH VOLKSWAGEN
In order to permanently establish the ESG guidelines in the Group, at the end of 2020, the Wolfsburg -based company linked bonus payments for top management to the achievement of these ESG goals. With over 125 factories worldwide, the group and its products are likely to be responsible for around 1% of global carbon dioxide emissions. As such the goal of the Volkswagen Group (WKN: 766403 ISIN: DE0007664039 Ticker: VOW3) is to be carbon neutral by 2050 by continuously optimizing its CO2 within the supply chain. See Complete Report
It’s extremely important that Volkswagen does not fall behind in its ESG ambitions, especially in China where the sales of their new electric compact SUV ID.4 flopped. In the world’s largest single market for electric vehicles, Volkswagen is not perceived as a luxury car unlike its rival Tesla. Nevertheless, the group is sticking to the planned sales figures of 80,000 to 100,000 electric cars in China and intends to capture around 4% of the expected sales market for fully electric vehicles this year. In the long term, however, VW wants to achieve a market share of 13 to 14%, as with combustion engines, but marketing has to be significantly improved for this.
THE SPLIT AT DAIMLER
The management waved through the planned spin-off of the truck and bus division Daimler Trucks Holding AG from the automotive group Daimler AG (WKN: 710000 ISIN: DE0007100000 Ticker: DAI). The Board of Management and the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG have given the company’s historic realignment the green light. With the spin-off, Daimler AG shareholders will receive 65% of the newly founded Daimler Truck Holding AG, which will then also be listed on the stock exchange as an independent company. For every two Daimler shares, the shareholders receive one new Daimler Truck Holding AG share booked in the depot . The shareholders should approve the split at the extraordinary general meeting to be held on October 1, 2021, and at the same time Resolve renaming of Daimler AG to Mercedes-Benz Group AG on February 1st, 2022. See Complete Report
Referencing the company’s plan to spin off division, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG, Bernd Pischetsrieder, said: “Today is a milestone in the almost 140-year history of this unique company. In Daimler’s history, having the courage to constantly reinvent the company from scratch was the key to its success. With the spin-off, the two independent listed companies can concentrate on their different customer groups and thus become even more efficient and successful”. The chairman of the board, Ola Källenius added: “In the future, the passenger car and van business will concentrate even more on the premium and luxury segment and consistently exploit its opportunities for growth and profitability. As the most valuable luxury automobile brand in the world, Mercedes-Benz aims to be the leader in electric drives and vehicle software ”.
While compliance with ESG guidelines is becoming increasingly important for investors, it also means higher costs for companies. The companies are adopting different strategies, for example by Daimler is outsourcing the more CO2-intensive areas of trucks and buses to a new company and thus only looking to optimise the car division. Volkswagen meanwhile wants to become the world market leader in e-mobility while Mineworx Technologies is extracting the raw materials including platinum and palladium from the discarded soot particle filters and catalytic converters. Because many securities traded over-the-counter (OTC) are relatively illiquid, or “thinly traded,” which tends to increase volatility in market prices, an investment in an OTC security involves a high degree of risk. These speculative and illiquid securities are often difficult for investors to buy or sell without significantly affecting the quoted price. It should be noted that the liquidation of a position in an OTC security may not even be possible within a reasonable period of time.
Dependable information regarding issuers of OTC securities, their prospects, or the risks associated with the business of any particular issuer or an investment in the issuer’s securities may not be available. For this reason, it may be difficult to properly value an investment in an OTC security or accurately determine the risks involved with investing in such a security.
Issuers of OTC securities quoted on the OTC Link system are not required to provide any kind of information to investors. While many issuers register OTC securities with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and regularly provide reports to investors in connection with such registration, they are not required to continue such registration or regularly provide such reports because their securities are quoted on OTC Link. Securities may continue to be quoted on the OTC Link system if issuers are delinquent in their reporting obligation to the SEC or other federal or state regulatory agencies. Quotation of a security on the OTC Link system or the Yellow Sheets does not in itself create any ongoing filing or reporting obligations with the SEC for any issuer. In fact, issuers may not even be aware that their securities are quoted on the OTC Link system.
